Chip Seminar on Violations a Big Success

On October 20th, CHIP held the second seminar in its fall seminar series: its subject was “How to Avoid City-Issued Violations— How to Prevent Them and How to Cure Them.” The event was co-sponsored with The Vendome Group, publishers of the Apartment Law Insider, and was held at the New York County Lawyers Association. Andrew Hoffman, who is both the Chairman of CHIP and a member of the Board of Advisors of ALI, was the morning’s deft moderator.

The Legal Experts
Attorney Adam Leitman Bailey began this portion of the program with a pragmatic piece on “Reviewing a Violation and Technical Defenses to a Violation.” Among the points covered were the importance of, and how to find, past administrative decisions that may protect you or bear on your case, and a review of sample defenses that have been used successfully in resolving violations.
