Adam Leitman Bailey appeared at the Mortgage Banker’s Association National Fraud Issues Conference at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas on Monday, March 16, 2009. The National Fraud Issues Conference is the one forum each year where industry professionals can learn about the growing issues relating to mortgage fraud and how to protect themselves from being victimized. Industry experts discussed a range of topics related to fraud issues, including fraud prevention efforts, identity theft issues, and laws and pending regulations related to reducing fraud. Adam Leitman Bailey joined the former Chief Executive Officers of IndyMac and two other industry experts to offer insight on fraud prevention to the audience. Individually, Adam Leitman Bailey’s presentation, Fighting Fraud in Today’s Highly Volatile Environment: What Lenders Should Know, explored the controversy behind the common crime of lender fraud and offered insight on how to avoid this issue by outlining the following eight ways to prevent it from occurring:

• Collecting sufficient identification;
• Power of Attorney fraud;
• Family fraud;
• Corporate resolutions;
• Freezing credit lines;
• Authenticity of the satisfaction;
• Fraud buster bonus;
• Internal lists.
