J.B. Summer Associate Testimonial

To begin, can you please state your name?

My name is Jennifer Beyer.

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I am 24 years old. I am currently in between my second and third year of law school and I went to Emery University undergrad.

Where are you going to Law School?

Benjamin Cordozo.

What was your role here at Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C.?

I started out as an extern for the spring semester of this past year and then I continued to stay on as a summer associate and I did most of my work in the Transactional Department doing transactional closings.

What was it like working here?

Overall, it was really a great experience. I met a lot of cool people and learned how to integrate different aspects of being a lawyer and I just had a real overall opportunity.

Did you get to work with Adam Leitman Bailey directly?

Yes. Since I was in transactional, he doesn’t do as much work so a lot of my substantive work was with Guy but I wrote an article that I did a lot of work with Adam and he is very hands on in terms of making sure and checking in that everything is okay, that I felt that I was getting a good amount of work, that I was learning and just wanting to broaden my skills as an attorney in general.

What types of tasks did you perform?

I did a lot…starting off with residential, condos and coop closings and there was a lot of closing statements, and preparing closings and then as I got more experience, I was able to do more commercial deals as well and do a little more of the corporate side of forming LLC’s or different partnerships and then lease summaries which are a big part as well.

What have you learned from working here?

I’ve learned that…I think the work experience gave me the ability to see what parts of the legal field that I want to be involved in and what parts I don’t. I really did develop and enjoyed doing transactional work.

What is the one thing or experience that would stand out in your mind that you gained from working here?

I have to say just the cultural of the people in general and being able to do things outside of work. It is an enjoyable place to come to work here. We did things outside and just getting a tour of the World Trade Center is something that will stay with me forever.

What was the best aspect of working here?

I would have to say again the people and I was a little nervous because being my first law firm experience that I wouldn’t enjoy coming to working and I wouldn’t enjoy drafting and it just proved me totally wrong. I would just really recommend to anyone to have work experience and it was just a great experience in general working here and I look forward to continuing.
