My name is Sharon Eruthickal and I’m a high school intern here at ALB P.C.. I started here at the beginning of July, this summer, so it’s a small amount of time.
I really like how all the employees built a really good working environment here. It’s very casual, but at the same time, I can see all the dedication and hard work despite being pressured and stressed in this job. I really like how everyone’s very open and you can really ask questions if you’re confused. You don’t have to feel bad about it.
I think it offers a really good job experience, like even if you’re not coming in for a law degree or anything, you get a real account of professional work, and I think it was a great experience for me as a high school, because it’s not an opportunity you get very frequently. So it was good to see that as a first time experience. The most valuable thing I learned was the sense of independence, but also team work. Seeing as this is my first job, this has taught me a lot to go out on my own and experience work life.
Here, no one does anything on their own. We all rely on each other, and it’s nice to know we can work officially together, and not have all the work burdened on the shoulders of one person. I talked a lot with the interns and paralegals here and I’m proud to help contribute to some of the important cases or trials.
My advice is that if you get this opportunity, definitely take it. It’s not something you come by very often, and if you’re going for law, I think this will be a great opportunity to get a first hand experience of how to work in a law firm, and what everyone does here. And even if your future goal is not to go into law, I think it’ll be a good experience to have. You learn a lot of valuable lessons you can take throughout your life and careers.
