C.S. Marketing Intern Testimonial

My name is C.S. and I am a marketing intern at ALB for summer 2014.

Q: Where are you from?

A: I am from Greatneck, which is in Long Island, New York.

Q: And what do you study?

A: I am studying Corporate Communications and Marketing at Baruch College.

Q: What are your goals career wise?

A: Career wise, I hope to be a lawyer in a couple of years and I am studying for my LSAT right now.

Q: That’s great. Did you get the experience you wanted out of this internship?

A: I came to the internship expecting something different but I got even better experience than I hoped for that I wouldn’t have gotten any other time in my life. That is going to be valued at some time in the future.

Q: What was your role at ALB?

A: So this summer, ALB marketing interns focused on creating the new website which is supposed to be the website of any website out there. And we focused on the migration, where we migrated the content of the old website to what was going to be the new website.

Q: What was your experience like?

A: Ok. So the experience started with us being taught what to do from scratch. We weren’t sure what we were going to be doing but after a while we got the hang of it, we got the training, we got tutorials, we got a lot of readings to do, I thought I was not going to get it the first week, I was totally clueless. I knew what the end goal was but I didn’t know how to get to that angle. So we started by learning a lot and reading a lot, I learned so much from that, this whole process.

Q: How did the firm help you prepare for the tasks and what type of tasks did you perform?

A: The firm helped a lot, especially Nicole. Nicole helped us, any time we had any questions, we go to her. If she felt that a lot of the interns did not know a special topic, she got us in training. The training was really helpful. We received training from Nicole, we received training from Xila, we received training from a couple of firms that came and showed us what to do, red books, we watched videos on YouTube, online, a lot of things.

Q: What have you learned here?

A: I’ve learned one of the most important things in life: how to make a website, we all know how big the internet is this day and age. If in my next job someone asks me how to built a website, I would actually know what to do. I would know to handle to work process, I would know how to take content from the previous website and put it on the new website. I would know the design, the layout, the difference between a mobile website and an online website, these are two different things. I’ve learned tons of things, it was great.

Q: Which tasks did you enjoy the most?

A: While I love the marketing side and the website and how I learned so much, in the long run I do want to be a lawyer. One of the opportunities that I got after speaking with Nicole and Adam, they let me go to court. And I was in court with Christopher Halligan and I loved it.

Q: What skills did you learn here that may be helpful to you in the future?

A: In the future, I know that somewhere along the line I would be either creating a website, making a website more optimized either for myself or another boss I have, or a supervisor, and I know this is going to come in handy. In this day and age everyone wants someone who would make their website look really good and know how to do that.

Q: Do you think this internship will help you further your career?

A: 100%. Yes, this internship will definitely help me further my career not only with the connections and the people that I met over here and the networking I’ve done but also with the skills that I have taken. I came from knowing nothing in one field to being a total expert. So yes.

Q: Do you have any comments for future interns or about working here in general?

A: For future interns this is definitely a great environment to grow. Because it is not one of these huge firms that they’ll hardly take notice of you. This is a type of firm where you are your own boss, where Adam will be in direct contact with you, Nicole if you had something you didn’t know, she won’t get mad at you, she’d teach you from the beginning, she encourages questions.
